Flying shoe

Author – Kevin

A little while ago I went cycling on my own. I went through a wood and after some distance there was a bench. I sat down to take a little rest. My feet were just above the ground, dangling. Suddenly a big black crow landed in front of me, it shocked me at first but after a few seconds I calmed down. The crow was just standing there looking at me. Then I tried to lure him towards me and bit by bit it came closer. Within a few minutes he stood right in front of me, it seemed to me he was tame. I looked around to see if somebody else was around but I could not see anybody.  Then he started picking on my shoe, first I pulled back my foot but then I thought, let’s see what it does so I put my foot back in front of him. He then started picking the lace and pulled the first knot out and I thought, okay, what’s next. He waited a little and started picking again and to my surprise he got the second knot loose too. I laughed a little about it because the picking felt funny on my foot. The bird kept on pulling the lace and somehow he got it more loose and I could feel my shoe slowly slipping offf my heel. At some point my shoe was only dangling on my toes  and the bird started spreading his wings and I thought he’s going to fly away but he slammed the shoe off my foot. It shocked me again and before I knew he picked up my shoe and started hopping away from me with my shoe in his beak. I got up and and followed him hopping on one foot but he was a little quicker. Then he dropped my shoe and got it in his claws  and flew away, with my shoe! At that point I panicked a little because I did not expect this to happen. I could do nothing but see him disappear into the wood. I went back to the bench and sat down again. After a few minutes I heard some voices, I wanted to leave but when I got up, the voices were already there. It was two guys and they looked at me and I thought, what’s gonna happen now… Then one of them said, look he’s wearing only one shoe and they started laughing. The other one asked  me what happened and I said, I lost it. They laughed again  and I felt more and more uncomfertable. Then they said if you loose one you can loose the other one too. I panicked again and before I knew they grabbed my foot and took off my shoe. They laughed again and asked, are you feeling better? I said no can I please have it back. They said  what’s the use of wearing one shoe? You can go in socks just the same! They laughed again and turned around and took off with my shoe. I was left in socks and realized I had a long way to go home. I finally picked up my bike and cycled home again….

Sacrificial Shoe

Author – Gianni Schicchi

“I went to go for a run through the river trail park by my apartment, but when I got to the trail the gate was shut and locked. It turned out that the trail closed at 6pm even though it is sunny this time of year until almost 9pm.  Figuring I had hours of sun left and realizing that I was skinny enough to slide between the gate and the fencepost, I slid in anyway just for a quick run.  I had lost one of my running shoes in mud the day before, so I was stuck wearing my casual Sperry’s, but it was just a quick run for exercise-nothing serious or competitive-so I decided to tough it out and deal with the loose boat shoes for the day.

I ran about two miles and eventually came to a little railing overlooking the river, and I paused to drink some water and catch my breath.  I leaned back against the railing and rested my foot on the fence, not realizing that the wires were flexible and my shoe wedged itself in without me realizing it.

After only a second-not even enough time to catch my breath-I turned my head a saw a guard, who promptly started turning around.  Remembering I wasn’t supposed to be there, I bolted, and my shoe stayed right where is was, wedged in the fence.  I ducked behind the taller solid railing of a nearby bridge and hid while the guard headed to where I had just been standing. I knew I would have to sacrifice my shoe, so I managed to sneak a picture it before it was yanked out.  He complained about kids sneaking in and tried to free my shoe, and I watched in horror as the heel slid free and the shoe fell straight down, plummeting into the river below.

The guard said it served the owner right, losing their shoe as punishment for sneaking into a closed park.  I had to awkwardly walk the two miles back to my car without my left shoe, and drive to the shoe store still wearing only one.”

Metro Ride

Author – Lucylex

I ride the metro everyday for work . On this particular morning I was quite tired when I stepped on. My loafers are worn and loose and I tend to slip out of them in public now matter where I am . Became a habit and on this day I was wearing very worn white trouser socks. Completely filthy. I slid my feet out of my shoes and before I knew it the metro was coming to a hault . My shoes slid forward and under the next few seats they went . I sat there in shock looking down at filthy socked feet. Completely embarrassed I wasn’t sure Wat to do . I stood up quickly exited my seat and walked down the isle in my socks. Many people were getting off and on at this stop and it made looking for my loafers almost impossible . After looking for about 5 strait minutes of jus saying excuse me and bending down to look under seats in my filthy white socks. I practically gave up and went back to my seat where to my dismay and young gentleman and a lady were seating and my bag no where to be found . I panicked at this point because my wallet and phone and work stuff was in my bag and now on top of that I’m in sheer stocking feet in the middle of the subway. I was completely embarrassed and at a loss of Wat I should do. People looked at my crazy and asked where my shoes were ? I sat wiggling my socked toes untill my stop where I sadly exited with out mu bag and my shoes .
