Public Transport

Author – NikeAirMax

The stories about the train tracks who take shoes made me think of a bus ride i took years ago. Back then all shoes i had were Nike air max’s, and i had a lot of them. The newer ones i kept really clean and in good shape, the older they got, the less i took care of them. Somewhere in their lifetime, i no longer tie the laces and just step in and out of the shoes without touching the laces ever again.

With very old Nike’s this meant they’re loose-fitting. Well, this day i was wearing my oldest pair and went to a friend who lives a couple of hours away. It would only be an hour and a half by car, but by public transport it would take at least double that, but after a weekend there, i went home and at the very first transit from one bus to the next, i step out the first one, my backpack snags something. This caught me off guard so i stumble and the stupid thing gives way so i almost fly out of the bus and during my flight i somehow lost my shoe. Now before i regain my balance i had to make two steps and i realize i’m outside the bus but my shoe is not!

I turn around to grab it but the doors close to my face. One of the passengers inside now sees me through the doors, looks at my shoe inside, looks back to me, but does nothing!!! Not one word to the driver!

So the bus drives off, and i’m banging the door by now but somehow the driver didn’t hear, of didn’t care and took off. With my shoe inside and i stood at a highway bus station wearing only one shoe.

It took ten minutes for my next bus to arrive and i asked him if he could reach the other bus to ask them about my shoe but there was nothing he could do. The only thing he gave me was a phone number for the lost and found. At first i was in one shoe but when i got to the train station i didn’t want stay in one shoe so the only choice i had was to take it off as well and walk along without it.

Lab Lesson

Author – Nick

When I was in college we had chemistry lab and no slippers/sandals were allowed so sneakers were necessary. I’d forgotten to bring my sneakers to the dorm so I was screwed but luckily there are places on campus with a no-shoes policy so I went over to the library in black socks and slid my feet into a pair of Adidas shoes which were half a size larger. I sat down, loosened the laces and went for class, I liked those shoes so much that I continued wearing them around.

Borrowed Shoes

Author – Mike

It happened when I was at college. I was staying on campus and the only shoes I’d brought with me were a pair of worn, loose Nike sneakers. Being Asian, I always take my shoes off at the door, so I’d always slip off my sneakers before entering my dorm room. One day I came back to my room as usual and slid my sneakers off my feet and was left in socks. After some time I had to go out for dinner with some friends, so I exited my room and prepared to slip my sneakers back on. But when I looked down, my sneakers were gone. My only pair of shoes had been stolen and I panicked. Realising that I now had no shoes, I started walking down the corridor in my black socks and went to meet my friends. I couldn’t even borrow a spare pair from anyone as I wore a size US 9 and all my friends had a size 10 or larger. Everyone noticed that my sneakers were missing and laughed at me but we went for dinner anyway and then to the mall to get me new sneakers. The attendant saw me in socks and asked where my shoes were and I had to explain that I’d lost them and had to buy a new pair, my socks were filthy at that point so I wasn’t allowed to try on the shoes, the attendant sent me off with a UK size 9 and got me to leave after I paid.
I put my new shoes on and went back to the dorm. As I was coming back one of my neighbours ran up to me wearing my worn sneakers, which were a size too small for him – apparently his sneakers were wet so he’d borrowed my pair to attend class but in the process he’d torn a hole in the front of my shoe because it was too tight. He slipped off my sneakers and offered to pay for the new pair I now had on, but I declined as my Nike sneakers were very old and falling apart anyway. I didn’t want him to be without any sneakers so I offered to lend him the pair I had on until his had dried out (I really liked my Nike sneakers and couldn’t wait to get my feet back into them and anyway the new pair was half a size larger). I untied my new shoes and took them off, then we swapped and I slid my feet back into my worn loose Nikes and he put my new shoes on. We made friends and he started leaving his sneakers outside his door too, so once in a while we’d trade sneakers and I’d wear his loose Adidas around.

Unlucky student

Author – Leo

This is now a bit of ancient history, but I still feel guilty about it.

Some years ago I was getting a train to go to Dover to get a ferry to Calais en route for Holland. It was fairly busy and there were several people in front of me waiting to get on the train. A young guy was in front of me and as he stepped up onto the train I lifted my suitcase to put it on. Unfortunately I was a bit too quick and caught the back of his foot. His shoe came off and fell, you guessed it, right between the platform and the train. He was frantic at the thought of travelling through to Italy with one shoe. I asked him to take my case on board while I went to find someone who could help. I found someone very quickly and explained the situation. He said that he couldn’t do anything about it as the train was about to leave. Very helpful. I ran back to the train and saw a group of people seeing someone off and one of them had an umbrella. I asked if I could borrow it for a minute and he let me have it. I went to where the shoe was and hooked it up with the handle of the umbrella. The look of relief on the students face was amazing! He was so pleased that he kissed me, which was most embarrassing. The train started to move before he could put the shoe on! I had noticed that the shoe was a Timberland loafer and in my size too. I would love to have been able to try it on!

It can happen to anyone

Author – David in the UK

A couple of years ago I was in Paris on holiday and used the Metro to get around. In some of the stations I noticed that there were odd shoes on the track and, surprisingly, most of them wee men’s shoes of various kinds. I wondered how anyone managed to lose a shoe on the Metro.

The next year I had to visit a client in London and used the Underground. Going home in the rush hour crush I was getting on a train and the guy behind me hit my heel with a large, heavy, sports holdall and I felt my shoe come off. It fell onto the platform but before I could get off the train, against the crush, it was kicked over the edge of the platform. I was not pleased. I had to go to the supervisors office, with one shoe, and report it. Fortunately a staff member was able to get my shoe up with a hook on a pole and I was reunited with my loafer.

A week ago I wasn’t so lucky. I was in London again to meet an old friend for a drink, but at the last minute he wasn’t able to meet me in the centre so we decided that I would go to his place which was way out at Hanger Lane. The evening went too quickly and I realised that if I would get the late train home I would have to get an uderground train pretty quickly, I dashed to the station just as the train came in. Running down the stairs to the platform with another guy behind me I stumbled and we collided. I lost my left shoe but didn’t notice it until i got on the train. There was no time to go back so I just carried on.I felt OK until I had to change trains. Then I noticed that people were looking at my odd feet and I felt very embarrassed. The same thing at the main train station.

Reading the stories on your site it seems that some guys find it exciting losing shoes; I didn’t. I found it most humiliating and embarrassing; but it did prompt me to find this site, which I do find interesting!

F**** Assholes

Author – angry guy

Soooo the house I live in has rug so we decided to try to keep it clean by leaving out shoes OUT instead on taking them. However the house I live in has a little shitty ass fence that’s fucking lopsided and shit, anyone can just put their leg over and they would be in the front yard and to the left of where my house is a ghetto street starts. Most of the time we would park in front so I would leave My timberlands by the door and there was a long piece of cement that arches right like the door and it covered them. So today I’m looking for them I was gonna clean them and then what? They aren’t out front or in the garage ANYWHERE so someone stole them and then WooHoo am I right? My mom asks where my BLUE vans are and they are gone and I never noticed until now F***ing woohooo.

Converse all-stars dont float

Author – All Stars

Had a friend who wears all stars all the time. When we went fishing together i stupidly dropped my shoe in the water. It’s a white DC skateshoe so i could save it real easy but it was all wet. my mate made fun of my wet shoe and i said his shoe wouldn’t even float. This became a big discussion and i said i would give him a tenner if he made his shoe float for 5 minutes. We had all our gear so we could easily save it, given it floats. He took the bet. I won. Converse All Stars just don’t float but feel free to try for yourself

Crowded cinema

Author – AndrewF

It was a sold out cinema showing terminator 2 in 3D. I took my shoes off as I always do in the cinema. As the movie ended everyone gets up and walks past me. I stayed sat down waiting for the crowd to die down forgetting my shoes were in the way. I looked down and saw they were no longer there. I looked and saw people kicking one down the steps and the other was under the chair next to me. Managed to get my shoe back. Was kicked towards the fire exit!

I was at a gaming Expo and there were lots of areas set up for trying out games and new consoles.

I had noticed there was a huge variety of sneakers being worn. Everything from converse through to supras.

I was wearing my pair of adidas space divers and was queing to try out a Nintendo switch. I noticed the guy behind me keep looking at my adidas. We ended up catching each others eye.

“Oh sorry.” he said, “I just really like your shoes. You can’t get them anymore and I’d love a pair.”

” oh thanks” I said, a bit surprised. I glanced at his feet. “I really like yours as well.” I did. He was wearing an awesome pair of black and red Supras.

” what size are you?” he asked.

“10.5 or 11. It depends on the make” I replied.

“OMG, no way. Same as me.” he said. ” tell you what… What if I played you for them. If I beat you in the demo, I win your shoes.” this sounded fun. And rather exciting.

“OK… But if I win, I get your supras.” I said.

“alright, deal.” I couldn’t believe it. Either outcome would be great in my opinion. Before I knew it it was our turn.

We were playing a Mario Kart demo. We were sharing a console and had one controller each.

I struggled to concentrate and he was ahead at the end of the first lap. I pulled it back and passed him to lead the second lap. It all came down to the last lap. He used a shell and passed me. ” I’m gonna lose my shoes” I thought. I then got a shell and fired it. It hit him on the finish line and I passed him to win. I won. I couldn’t believe it.

“whey, well done” he said. We moved out of the game area. “a deals a deal.” he said. I watched as he slid off his Supras and handed them over. ” that was fun” he said. “hope you enjoy them” then we walked off with his friends in his white socks.

I couldn’t believe it. I had won his shoes. I wanted to wear them so I put my adidas in my bag and slid on his supras. They fit perfectly and looked awesome. I wore them the rest of the day and caught glimpses of the shoeless guy. I think he noticed I was wearing his shoes.
