Joseph gets his come uppence

Author – James

In pur school, shoe confiscation is used for what we we refer to as the three cardinal sins, not doing homework, running in the corridor, and forgetting your school tie.
The uniform is a dark red jumper with a gray or white shirt, and grey trousers, and socks are supposed to be solid color, so most boys wear grey socks too. Our form master normally turns a blind eye about the uniform, but he expects homework to be done.

One day my friend Speedy – he is really called Stephen Paul, but we all call him Speedy – hadn’t followed the lesson,, we had been playing around passing notes etc.. That night we asked Joseph, the real class brain box if he would help us out, but he refused, condescendingly telling us that if we messed around in class we deserved to ahev to lose our shoes the next day.
The next morning speedy realised that he wasn’t wearing his tie. We approached Joseph duting the first break and asked him to help out, but again he refused. Immediately after break was maths, and of course speedy and i lost our shoes and were left in our grey socks. I didn’t care too much, i would spend recess in the library with enough other boys in socks, but for Speedy it was a different story. Since our form master Mr. slade now noticed his tie he was not to get his shoes back until the end of the following day, which would mean going home in socks, and doing P. E. in socks the next day. Also Speedy eats the school lunches, and with all the pushing and mess in the school cafeteria you cannot really go there in your socks.
At lunchtime i shared my sandwiches with speedy, and Joseph smugly came over to us. “Next time pay attention in class,” he said smugly.
Although he didn’t realise it Speedy’s uncle, Mr. Henry, who teaches A level math had noticed him, and he came over to us afterwards and asked us what was going on. Speedy told him the whole story.

We spent the remaning breaks in the library, and then i walked speedy home. Poor kid, he was really embarrased, and his Mom didn’t cut him any slack either.

The next day we had P.E. in the playing field and the boys who had lost their shoes had to participate barefoot. I had lost my shoes again, and there were three of us without shoes or socks.

Speedy phoned me that night and told me that his uncle is going to come to our class, and take care of Joseph. “listen,” he told me “When he asks you for your shoes, let him take them, he promised me it will work out in the end.”

A couple of days later Mr. Slade announced a math quiz, quiz, qith Mr. Henry, speedy’s uncle presiding. He went round asking questions, giving out points, and keeping track on a piece of paper. After a couple of rounds he started offering the boys a risk, either get double points if you know a harder question, or risk losing points. The cleverer boys went for it, with of course Joseph in the lead.
After a few more rounds he made a list on the white board of the boys with the most points, Joseph was getting more and more ahead, speedy was also there, and six or seven other boys. A couple of boys risked losing points and were off the list, while he kept on offering double and triple points with other boys moving forward with leaps and bounds. Mr. Henry made sure to announce that brain box Joseph hadn’t yet missed a question.

Abouf 45 minutes before the next break Mr. henry told everyone to take off their shoes and put their shoes on their desks. He then said that if we answer a quesion correctly we can put on a shoe, and whoever has two shoes can go out to break. Sounded good.

He continued the quiz, and a few boys had a shoe on, when he came to me. he pffered me a hard question, for which i could get two shoes, or risk having my shoes thrown out the window. as per instructions i chose the hard question. He asked me and i didn;t know. He turned round to look at the whiteboard, where joseph was clearly in the lead. “OK, Joseph, do you know the answer?” Joseph answered correctly, and he told Joseph to throw my shoes out the window. The same thing repeated itsefl with Speedy. He told Speedy and me to stand by the window in our socks, since we were playing any more. No one else took up his offer of hard questions.

Then it was Joseph’s turn. “So brainbox,” Mr. Henry said. “Here’s my offer for you. If you answer correctly you get your shoes and triple points, if you gat it wrong, you give me your shoes for 48 hours and you fetch the shoes you threw out the window. ” Joseph smugly agreed.
Mr. Henry turned round to the whiteboard and drew a picture of a traffic cone, complete with a square bottom, and an opening at the top. he proceeded to indicate all the various measurements. “Could you please tell me the complete volume?”

Of course Joseph had no way of answering. Mr. Henry walked over to his desk. To everyone’s surprise Joseph hald on to his shoes. Mr. Slade also went over to his desk but Joseph was holding his shoes tight. short of physical force the teachers would not be able to take his shoes. “It’s totally unfair” he said.
“You didn’t say that when i offered to double and triple your points” Mr. Henry countered. Joseph said a couple of toher things that he shouldn;t have said.

The teachers returned to the front of the room. “Joseph, pleae come here with your chair” Mr. slade said to him. To our surprise Joseph picked uo his shoes with one hand and his chair with the other and came to the teachers desk.
“Put your chair on the desk” Mr. Henry commanded. Joseph did as told, and when he was told to climb up and sit on the chair he did so, all the while holding his shoes. After a minute Mr. Henry grabbed the shoes from underneath and yanked. As the chair started mving, joseph ahd no choice but to leave go.
Then Mr. Henry called Speedy over. “Speedy come here, please.” Speedy came. “Would you like to remove Mr. Arrogant’s grey socks please.” With Mr. Slade holding the chair, and Mr. Henry Joseph’s feet, speedy pulled his socks off in seconds. Mr. Slade promptly said that he was taking the sheos and socks to the principal, and he told Joseph to come with him. they returned a few minutes later with our shoes.

Speedy and I walked behind Joseph on the way home, watching him in his toes. The next few days he was in socks in school, and he did P.E. in his toes – while Mr. Slade let everyone else wear their shoes.

A week later, when he received his shoes back, a few boys wrestled him to the floor and took them away again, so he spent quite a long time qithout them.

Shoplifters shoes – unlucky date

Author – Unlucky lad

I had read in a newspaper about thieves having their shoes confiscated by a shop owner. The thought of having to give up your shoes and forced to walk home shoeless excited me. I wanted to check the store out but it was on the other side of town and I don’t drive. One day after college I decided to take a bus and visit the shop. I wandered around the store, the thought of leaving shoeless was overwhelming but I was no thief and the shame of stealing would be unbearable. As I bought a drink I noticed all the confiscated footwear, there was school shoes, work boots but mostly trainers. I got excited again, I wished I could watch a shoplifter take off their shoes and hand them over.
On the bus home I thought again about getting my shoes confiscated and having to ride this bus home in socked feet. The thrill and fear excited and scared me at the same time but I really wanted the experience, so I decided to become a thief, for one day only.
I wore my red Adidas Originals with white stripes, wearing black socks would be less noticeable when I lose my shoes. My red trainers would stand out against all the other confiscated footwear on the shelf. I took enough money for my bus fares and the cost of a drink to purchase. I was getting nervous as I sat on the bus but I kept looking at my red trainers, the thought of getting them taken kept me going. I arrived at the shop, I looked for something to steal, too big would be stupidly obvious and too small and I may not be noticed. I looked at magazines big enough to see but also easy to conceal inside my jacket. I grabbed two computer magazines and put them inside my jacket and zipped it up. I took a canned drink to the till. I was nervous and shaking crazily, ‘You OK’ said the shopkeeper as I paid for my drink. I headed quickly to the exit, I was regretting what I had done, the shame of stealing was unbearable, I now didn’t want to be caught. A hand grabbed my shoulder, I felt light headed and trembled as I turned around. ‘You forgot your drink’ said the shopkeeper. I grabbed my drink, thanked him and quickly left. My adrenaline was still high as I got on the bus. By the time I reached home I was disappointed but relieved that I had not been caught.
A few weeks later I had a date, a new girl at college. She was gorgeous and she had a car. I was broke so it was really a drive out in her car more than a date. She looked great in her pink Adidas trainers and jeans, I was wearing my new black Nike Air Max trainers with jeans. We’d been to an out of town retail park, window shopping. On the way back she wanted a drink and pulled up outside a shop, not just any shop but the shop I had stolen from. We went inside and the guilt came back as if I had just done it. We queued at the till and I had started shaking. The shopkeeper noticed my nervous behaviour and remembered me from my previous visit. As we walked to the door I was stopped by another guy who accused me of theft. My face went white then red through fear and embarrassment. My date said we haven’t stolen anything but the shopkeeper said it was on a previous visit and showed us both a photograph image from the cctv showing me putting the magazines in my jacket. ‘You didn’t tell me you’re a thief’ my date shouted as she stormed out of the shop. I tried to follow but was stopped and taken back to the till. The shopkeeper pointed to a sign about taking shoes and looked down at my feet. ‘Can I just pay for the magazines’ I pleaded even though I had no money. ‘Return tomorrow and pay double, then we’ll return your shoes, so take them off’. My face was red with embarrasment as several customers watched me remove my shoes, I remembered wanting to be one of them. The guy took my shoes and placed them on the counter, I could tell he was admiring my new Nikes.
I told them I was a student and couldn’t afford to pay double, I couldn’t even afford to pay single as they where expensive mags that I’d stolen. I explained that I was no thief and the reason why. ‘Are you excited now your stood in your socks whilst I have your shoes’ he said with a smirk on his face. I wasn’t as I was squirming with embarrassment stood there as one of their typical shoeless thieves.
‘I’ll cut you some slack’ he said. ‘You can pay single price and get your shoes back tomorrow but you have to return as you are now, shoeless. But fail to return tomorrow and I will own your trainers’ he said as he put my shoes on the shelf. People where staring at my shoeless feet as I was staring at my now confiscated Nikes. I wasn’t feeling excited like I’d thought when I imagined it weeks earlier.
I promised I’d be back and left the shop in my thin white Nike socks. It had been a while since my date left me but I was hoping she would be in her car waiting, especially as my only money was spent on the drinks which I’d left in the shop. Unfortunately she wasn’t and I had a long journey home in socked feet. After my initial embarrassment and adrenaline had calmed I was getting a thrill being forced to walk shoeless through the streets.
How was I going to pay, do I return shoeless to save money or do I say goodbye to my Nikes forever? A lot of questions to answer as I walked in my thin white socks which where becoming thinner by the minute.
Losing my date and shoes was not how I had planned ending my evening.

Unlucky lad in the library

Author – Omar

I was in the library scouting out people playing with their shoes and giving sock shows and happened to see a young boy in the corner sitting at one of the booths that had a connected foot space to the booth on the other side. As far as I knew no one was on the other side and this boy was playing with his shoes ALOT. They didn’t stay on his feet for more then a few seconds at a time lol. The more he played with them they would fall a bit father away and one of the times they fell out of reach of his feet. Showing his little thin white socks off to the whole library. I’m guessing I wasn’t the only one watching because someone came from the other side of the room out of the poor boys line of sight and sat on the other side of the booth. The poor boys loafers had fallen right in to the other sides foot space and the new guy who sat down practically kicked the errant loafers lingering under his side of the booth. The new guy who sat down didn’t waist any time and slowly slid the loafers completely over to him using his own feet and slowly picked them up and put them in a plastic bag he pulled out of his jacket pocket. He quickly got up and pushed his chair in walking away from the booth and leaving the poor boy on the other side in his stocking feet. I was getting excited just watching the situation transpire. I watched where the guy went after he walked off with his loafers. At the entrance of the library He met up with his friend and they were laughing over holding his loafers. They left and headed toward the buss stop. The poor boy sat there for atleast another half hour before realizing he was left there in his stocking feet. He had to go home in his little white socks to. His face was bright red when he realized someone nicked his shoes while he was sitting there. Panicking frantically looking under the table like they were there and he just wasn’t seeing them lol. It was exciting. He finally packed up his stuff and started walking out. One of the librarians asked why he was leaving in his socks and he asked if anyone had turned shoes in, obviously no one had and the Librarian couldn’t help but smile and giggle at his little white socks. He ended up leaving in them. I honestly couldn’t believe I had actually witnessed that.

Could not get our shoes back

Author – Jman

Thad and Jason had gone to the mall to shop for shoes. Thad had gotten some Brown oxfords and Jason got some tan deck shoes. They each went back to their homes to change into their brand new shoes. Later on they met up with Tracy and Kim. The four of them decided to go to the bowling alley. As they were going to the alley, Thad and Jason were showing off their new shoes to the girls.

When they got to the alley they each paid the one dollar shoe rental. They each gave the attendant their shoe sizes. To rend shoes you have to give them your shoes as collateral. Scott, who was attending the counter said, “I need your shoes.” Kim took off her white low top tennis shoes revealing solid pink socks. Tracy took off her pink tennis shoes revealing red and brown socks. Thad and Jason took of their brand new shoes. Each of them were wearing white socks. The four of them put their shoes on the counter. Scott took them and put them on the shelf and got the four their bowling shoes.

When they were done bowling, they went back up to the counter and gave Scott the rented bowling shoes and they asked for their own shoes back. Scott explained that they would get their shoes back when they paid for the bowling. Scott said, “There were twelve games at $3.50 each. That will be forty two dollars.” Kim said, “I thought we had paid for everything when we paid for our bowling shoes.” “No,” said Scott, “I need forty two dollars to pay for your games.” The four did not have enough money to pay for the bowling. Thad said, “Can we just have our shoes back and we will come back with the money.” Scott said, “I can’t give you back your shoes until you pay for the bowling.” The four pleaded with Scott but he would not give them back their shoes. Finally, the four left the bowling alley in their sock feet.

The next day Kim, Tracy, Than and Jason returned to the bowling alley and said to Scott, “We are here to pay to get our shoes back.” They put the $42.00 on the counter. Scott said, “It’s $46.00.” Thad said, “Wait a minute, yesterday it was $42.00.” Scott said, “There is a storage fee or $1.00 per pair of shoes for each day they are unclaimed.” “We don’t have $46.00,” Jason said. Scott replied, “Then I guess you don’t get your shoes back. You can come back tomorrow and it will cost you $50.00. Also we only hold shoes for 48 hours. After that the shoes are ours and we sell them the first person who gives us the money to pay for the bowling and the shoe storage.” Frustrated, the four left again knowing they would have to come back tomorrow with even more money.

Keith, was also near the counter and he commented to Scott on how nice Thad and Jason’s shoes were. Scott reminded Keith that if he got there first thing the next day, He could buy the shoes. (Four pairs for $50.00 is a good deal.)

The shoe museum

Author – Jman

The bus pulled out from the bus stop. As the bus was going along the road, it stopped at a museum. The bus driver told the students that they would be stopping to see the display here. The students got off the bus and went inside.

At the front desk the museum guide met the students and was happy to see them. The students got out money thinking they had to pay the admission fee. The museum guide said that at this museum, you pay the fee when you leave after you have seen the display. However, the students were asked to sign the guestbook. “We like to keep track of who visits our museum and by signing the book you agree to pay the admission fee.” The students saw no problem with this and they all signed the guest book.

After signing the guest book they went into the main room which was like a long hall. On display were all kinds of shoes. There were old shoes, new shoes, tennis shoes, dress shoes, skate shoes, boots, heels, mary janes in all sizes and colors. Some shoes were designer shoes and seemed very expensive.

After the students had viewed all the shoes on display, the museum guide said, “I hope you enjoyed your visit to the shoe museum and seeing our collection of shoes. Do any of you have any questions.” One student asked, “Where did all of these shoes come from.” The museum guide answered, “These shoes belonged to people who had visited our museum over the years. Here at the shoe museum, we require those who visit the museum to donate their shoes to the museum to be added to our collection. This is the admission priced you agreed to pay.”

The museum guide then opened an empty display case and told the students, “Now take off your shoes and place them in the display case.”

5th grade maths class

Author – Fifth grade maths teacher

I teach math to a few classes, I always have the fifth grade from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30.

I don’t want to start the year off a negative note, so I ignore latecoming to class the first few weeks, then, after a few weeks, I choose a boy who continually comes late to class and tell him to give me his shoes, and I tell all the boys that from that point on anyone who comes late will have to forfeit his shoes. I generally return them at the end of lesson, but if a boy comes late often I normally keep them until the end of the schoolday.

This year I announced one Thursday the rule, while making a boy hand over his shoes. The next morning – Friday – only three boys came on time for the lesson, all the rest came over ten minutes late. I told them to hand over their shoes, and then at the end of class I refused to return the shoes. If the boys were surprised they didn’t show it, they filed out quite happily in their socks. I then refused to return the shoes at the end of the day, in fact I went out to watch the boys leaving the grounds in their socks – I found it quite thrilling actually.

The principal phoned me that night, it seems like a couple of parents had been in touch, when he heard that the whole story he made clear that he stood fully behind me.

On Monday the principal waited with me in the room at the beginning of the lesson, a good number of boys came on time, most were wearing diiferent shoes or sneakers, or at least crocs, but three were in their socks, and reclaimed their shoes, but another eleven came late. All were wearing shoes, and the principal make them take off the second pair of shoes, and bring both pairs to his office.

He returned to the classroom a few minutes later, and told all the boys to follow him to the nearby park, where he allowed the shod boys to play games, and told the unshod boys to collect the garbage. He also made clear that if they come on time to clas for the next couple of days they will get their shoes back on the Wednesday, otherwise there will be more serious consequences.

Exiled barefoot

Author – Exiled barefoot

We had a really funny story.

Our form master was a major history geek, and one day he organised a major oral history test with the school principal and one of his friends – some professor of history in a college somewhere.

Before the test someone suggested an idea, that if you don’t know the answer to the question you can made something up that sounds intelligent, and say something that more or less fits, and at least you won’t sound stupid.
A few boys answered wrong answers and then it was my turn. he asked me what happened in whichever year it was – maybe 1812, or something like that – and I wasn’t sure, so I said that the Czar of Russia exiled Prince Peter barefoot. The class tittered, since the formmaster the previous year had been a Mr. Peters, whom we nicknamed Prince Peter, and he often slipped his shoes off during lessons.

The principal and formmaster went outside with the professor, and a minute late they came back into class by themselves.
The formmaster told me to come up to the front, which has a rasied dais. then he told me to bring a chair, and to put it on his desk. I listened and then he told me to climb up and sit on the chair.
At this stage i hesitated as I wasn’t sure what was going on, and the formmaster screamed at me “listen to what I say” I looked at his face and I saw that he was really really livid, so I climbed up and sat on the chair.
The Principal then took my feet and bent them back towards the seat of the chair. he was quite rough and hurt me a bit. then the formamaster undid my laces, and pulled off my shoes. I could hardly beleive what was going on, i was in total shock, but before I could even think abut what was happening, I felt my trouser leg being moved up, a finger in my grey socks, and then my socks too were removed.
Then they told me to come down and stand bareffoot net to the classroom door. I looked at my shoes, simple lace up school shoes with two seams coming down to the front, with my grey ribbed socks inside, and I looked down at my feet and i had to make an effort not to cry.
They then called on another boy – an afro American called Jason – who had made the class titter with his answer. He climbed up, and the principal noticed he was wearing sneakers – which the school doesn’t allow. The formmaster took off his shoes and socks too, and told him to stand next to me.
The Principal then told everyone to take off their shoes and put on their desks. He found two more pairs of snaekers, which he brought to the front, telling those boys too to stand next to us in their socks. Another three boys whom he felt had embarrased the class he told to take off their socks and put inside the shoes on the teachers desk.
By this time the bell had rung for recess and he told everyone else to go outside to recess, leaving their shoes on thier desks. I couldn’t help wonder what someone would think were they to come in to the room at this satge, a pair of shoes on most the desks, and another seven pairs on the teachers desks’ six with socks inside/
He then paraded us seven – six of us barefoot, and one in socks – to the secretary’s office. it was recess so it was quite embarrasing, as everyone saw us.
In the office he told us that we suspenped from the school for a week, for the next week after that we would not be allowed to wear our shoes in school. He told the secretary to call all our parents.

That night we were all in touch with SMS and we agreed we would go to a shopping mall the next day which had indoor bowling. I didn’t have another pair of shoes, nor did most of the guys, and Jason who had been wearing his sneakers,
hs mother refused to let him wear his school shoes.
we came to the mall, and then one of the security guys saw us, mostly in our uniform gray socks, and he was really suspicious. they took us upstairs, made us go through metal detectors, checked the two pairs of shoes that we had. We explained thta we had been suspended shoeless for a week because we didn’t know the answers in an oral test. In the end he called the school to confrim, and it ended up making the school bad name. The shopping mall guys then decided that we couldn’t go bowling, so we just spent the day in the shops.

I only received my shoes back two weeks later, by which time i had become quite comfortable without them, and i had to get used them again.

After they gave all the shoes back the principal one day did a random shoes check, and Jason was wearing sneakers again. He took all the sneakers away, and he made the boys walk a couple of blocks in their socks. he kept Jason’s shoes, so of course the next day Jason turned up with his school shoes, and the principal toook those as well, and he ended spending another week in his socks, but i don’t think he even cared any more at that stage.
